Question : What USB speed do the USB2-H-500X-M adapters support?
Answer : The USB2-H-500X-M family can be used with USB 3.0, USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 hosts/hubs. Featuring FTDI’s Hi-Speed USB-serial ICs, these adapters can support Hi-Speed USB (480Mbps) when connected to a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 host port on the computer. This allows RS485 baud rates of up to 8MBaud to be achieved by the adapter. The USB2-H-500X-M family can also be used with USB 1.1 host ports and hubs. However, for best performance a host supporting USB2.0 or greater is recommended.
Question : Is an external termination resistor required for the USB2-H-500X-M USB to RS485 adapters?
Answer : Termination resistors are often used at each end of an RS485 link to prevent reflections of the signals. The USB2-H-500X-M USB to RS485 adapters include built-in 120 ohm termination resistors which can be enabled and disabled easily via a DIP switch.
